peiker and Globalstar announce strategic partnership

Satellite-based emergency and telematics services for the automotive industry

Globalstar, Inc. (NYSE American: GSAT), a leading provider of satellite and communications services, and peiker Holding GmbH, a specialist in connected mobility, have entered into a strategic partnership. The aim of the cooperation is to provide satellite-based emergency services and telematics solutions for the automotive industry.

peiker can look back on a decades-long track record in the development of connectivity modules for vehicles that enable fast and reliable data transmission. With the product “Polestar”, a telematics system based on mobile communications, peiker laid the foundation for today's eCall services, in which vehicles can be tracked via GPS.

Globalstar has saved over 10,000 lives over the last two decades with its SPOT satellite trackers and also provides reliable emergency services for directly connected device technologies. “This partnership extends our offering of satellite-based emergency services and IoT connectivity into the automotive industry,” said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, CEO of Globalstar.

Joint focus on safety and innovation

The partnership enables peiker to exclusively represent Globalstar in Europe. peiker will not only introduce and distribute Globalstar technologies in the European market, but will also act as a technical support partner for projects. In addition, peiker will contribute its own resources to product development in order to optimize Globalstar's technologies specifically for applications in the automotive industry.

“We are looking forward to working with Globalstar to bring innovative communication solutions to vehicles,” explains Andreas Peiker, Managing Director of peiker Holding. “With our experience in the eCall system, which we successfully introduced in the early 2000s, we want to take road safety to a new level. Our aim is to make communication options in critical situations even more reliable.”
