KATHREIN DS and pei tel agree on exclusive sales partnership

KATHREIN Digital Systems, market leader for digital satellite reception technology, and the developer, manufacturer and distributor pei tel Communications GmbH, which specializes in high-quality communications solutions, have entered into a strategic sales partnership. This will give pei tel's approximately 150 specialist retail partners access to KATHREIN's pDAS (passive Distributed Antenna Systems) portfolio, which includes numerous established solutions for the implementation of indoor mobile networks. At the same time, KATHREIN DS benefits from the integration of its products into pei tel's full product range, as well as the direct participation in major national and international projects that this enables.

"With KATHREIN Digital Systems, we have an innovative and renowned partner that can point to many years of market leadership in the field of passive DAS. Through this cooperation, we will now also provide our reseller partners with valuable access to the versatile and proven KATHREIN pDAS portfolio - a real opportunity for all parties involved in view of the increasing data traffic and the growing need for reliable mobile coverage," explains Thomas Martin, Managing Director of pei tel.

"The partnership with pei tel is an optimal opportunity for us to significantly expand our access to the pDAS market and decisively accelerate it in many sub-segments," says Andreas Wimmer, Managing Director at KATHREIN DS. "By means of pei tel's very good distribution breadth, we can also place our portfolio outside Germany in a targeted manner, including within the scope of pei tel's full product range. This fully comprehensive distribution from a single source creates important synergies for specialist retailers."

Given the increase in data traffic and the need for mobile access anytime, anywhere, the additional availability of indoor mobile networks is essential. Network coverage through macro sites is not sufficient to overcome the high penetration losses caused by the facade material used in most buildings, resulting in poor indoor coverage. To overcome this, Distributed Antenna Systems are installed in typical indoor environments such as shopping malls, hotels, transportation and hospitals.

Depending on the size of the coverage required and the specific application, the use of a passive DAS (pDAS) is often a suitable solution. Particular advantages include simple design, low material costs, low maintenance, high reliability and easy deployment of network coverage.
